We were lucky enough to purchase this original 1970 400 Cross from a collector in California. We purchased her in unrestored condition. We just completed a full bare frame restoration in our shop. The frame and all originally painted parts were media blasted and powder coated. The Akront wheels and a few other aluminum parts were highly polished. NOS Barum tires and new Buchanan spokes were installed when the wheels returned from the polishing shop. Freshly chromed, painted, and properly badged tank was installed along with many other NOS and new items to bring this beauty back to as close to factory fresh as possible.
As you can see, from the photos, we are huge fans of vintage Husqvarna motocrossers. We currently have 7 vintage Husky beauties in our inventory. One of our beautiful 1970 400 Crosses paired with the 1970 250 Cross, that we have in inventory, would be the dream focal point of any vintage motocross collection.
This is the "HOLY GRAIL" of the vintage dirt bike world! Many consider the magnificent 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross to be the single most collectible off-road motorcycle ever built. The 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross was the true star of Bruce Brown's classic documentary, "On Any Sunday", with Steve McQueen and Malcolm Smith joyfully riding these Huskys in every type of off-road motorcycle racing and recreational riding that one can imagine. The values of this rare model continue to skyrocket.
On Any Sunday (1971) – Husqvarna 400 Cross
“On Any Sunday” is a documentary that showcases the lives of motorcycle racers and racing enthusiasts. The Oscar-nominated film was co-produced by actor and former motorcycle racer Steve McQueen. In the documentary, McQueen can be seen riding his 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross for a 10th-place finish in the Elsinore Grand Prix off-road race. “On Any Sunday” is regarded as one of the best motorcycle documentaries ever.
Fun fact: McQueen’s Husqvarna was sold at auction for $230,500 in 2018.

Vintage Motorcycle Note: With all of our vintage motorcycles, we first fully inspect them, then we service all the fluids with the proper viscosity oils of the highest quality, then they are started and test ridden to check engine, brakes, clutch, and gearbox function along with carburetor jetting and function. After that, we drain the fuel from the tanks and carburetors and treat the interior of the tanks and the pistons and cylinder bores with "Corrosion X aviation grade" preservative. All of our beautiful vintage motorcycles are then finely detailed to as close to concours collectible condition as possible. All of these beauties are ready for home, office, man cave, or museum display. Or, if you are like us, you can fuel them up and take them for a "rip".
